We are pleased to share that Dorothy Tan, Managing Director of DOT Chambers LLC, has been recognised in The Straits Times' Singapore's Top-Rated Lawyers 2027, in collaboration with Statista. Dorothy has been listed in the Most Recommended Lawyers in Family Law.
The Top-Rated Lawyers list recognises the individual lawyers who received the most recommendations from fellow lawyers, in-house counsel and clients. Statista's independent survey ran from 11 May to 6 July 2026 and drew responses from around 6,000 verified professionals. You can read more in The Straits Times' report on this year's lists.

About Dorothy Tan
Dorothy has dedicated her career to family law. As a divorce lawyer in Singapore, she is known for high-stakes, contentious matrimonial proceedings, including complex asset division, appeals and privacy-sensitive disputes. Her practice often involves advising high-net-worth individuals.
At 25, Dorothy was one of the youngest lawyers to appear as lead counsel in the Court of Appeal, in a case that helped establish Singapore's structured approach to dividing matrimonial assets. In another Court of Appeal case, she increased a client's share of matrimonial assets from 25% to 75%, so the client received $10.2 million instead of $3.4 million.
Dorothy is also an Accredited Family Mediator and an Accredited Collaborative Family Practitioner with the Singapore Mediation Centre. Her depth of expertise allows her to help couples resolve their divorce by agreement where that is possible, as well as represent them in court where it is not.

She has been appointed by the Chief Justice to the Inquiry Panel of the Law Society of Singapore and serves the Law Society as the Co-Chairperson of the Middle Category Committee. She also serves on the Ministry of Social and Family Development's Discharge Committee (Women's Charter) and was a course facilitator in family law at the Singapore Institute of Legal Education.
In Dorothy's words
“Family matters are rarely only legal problems. Clients usually come to us at one of the hardest points in their lives, and they need clear advice and someone who can be straight with them, stay level-headed when things get difficult, and steer them in a direction towards an outcome that works for their family. I am grateful to the clients and colleagues who took the time to recommend me, and to my team, who share this recognition.”
As featured in The Straits Times
Dorothy was one of three lawyers profiled in The Straits Times' feature, Mavericks of the Bar: Trio from new boutique firms among top-rated lawyers, which looked at top-rated lawyers whose firms were launched within the last 18 months. She spoke about founding DOT Chambers in April 2026 with Charlene Nah and Mathea Lim, and about building a lean practice where partners stay closely involved in every matter.
As she told The Straits Times, “legal ability alone is not enough to build a reputable firm.”
